We believe protecting people and the environment is good business. Our FOCUS Environment Photographic and Caption Competition plays an important role in helping to enhance awareness of the environment and the need to manage it for future generations.
FOCUS Environment is open to all Western Australian school students in Years 4 to 12, and last year, more than 900 entries were received. The competition encourages students to be aware of the world around them and to make a commitment to caring for the environment and safeguarding it for the future.
Students can choose from one of three subject categories and submit a photograph and 25 word caption that best suits the criteria of that category.
Judges look for photographs that show an understanding of the topic, are visually appealing and demonstrate a certain level of skill and imagination. The accompanying captions are also considered by the judges.
Winning students and their schools shared in prize money totalling $30,000.
